Wind Breaker by Satoru Nii follows Haruka Sakura, a high school student known for his exceptional fighting skills and distinctive heterochromatic eyes. Seeking to challenge himself, he enrolls at Furin High School, a place infamous for its delinquent students who prioritize strength over academics. However, he soon discovers that the students, collectively known as Bofurin, use their strength to protect the town of Makochi from external threats. Instead of mindless brawling, they stand as its defenders, challenging Haruka’s initial view of power.
At first, Haruka is focused solely on proving himself as the strongest fighter. But as he witnesses the camaraderie and sense of justice among his peers, his perspective shifts. Through battles and friendships, he begins to see strength as a tool for something greater than personal pride. As he integrates into the Bofurin group, he faces formidable adversaries and deepens his understanding of community, ultimately growing both as a fighter and as a person.
